Too many things going on…but I got “sidetracked” and recorded this the other day…

Vocals, where ARE the vocals? I “hate” vocals…but who knows, I may try to add a vocal track sometime…enjoy!

This is my version of a great Jimmy Hendrix tune: “Foxy Lady!” The guitar used is one of my project guitars that I’ve been putting together: The neck pickup is a vintage G&L G-200 pickup, and the bridge pickup is from a vintage F-100. The sound is pretty hot and distorted in this recording, but these pickups also have the ability to get very clean sounds as well…

Added another G&L guitar project update to the project section

Both the neck and bridge pickups were purchased from EBay through a trusted seller, so it’s not his fault. But basically, using my trusty Kobalt Brand digital caliper, it was discovered that the outside pole to pole distance on both of these vintage pickups are the same…precise to the nearest hundredth of a millimeter. The caliper tool shows this to be 55.50mm for both bridge and neck pickups…

Added a short update to the Projects section http://alvarolupinacci.com/projects/ about a G&L Guitar project currently being worked on–ignoring the plethora of others simultaneously in progress as well!

Here’s what the guitar sounds like so far:

This audio file is very large–about 34Megabytes. The first section is just playing around with cleaner sounds, but the second section drives the amp in order to get a feel for the way the pickups behave with a stronger signal output.

Note that all of these are improvised “off the top of my head” simply to determine whether or not the project should go forward to completion.

Sentell Pickups and Rewinding

Just a quick post about one of my older G&L basses that had a bad coil in the neck position and a plug for Sentell Pickups…Basically, what happened is that I had recently aquired an older Series E L-2000 from EBay and found out that it had several electronics problems–one of these was a bad coil, and the other one was an odd (and very rare) circuit design “flaw” that some of these basses had in the old days before there was a modification. Anyhow, I just want to make a suggestion for people who need to have guitar or bass pickups rewound by a professional at a great price and quick service as well.

Consider Jerry Sentell for all of your pickups rewinding needs. He had my pickup rewound to specs and back to me within a week!

Burn it!

I’ve added a new song to the Song Samples area on 9/13/10. I’m calling it “Burn it!” in light of the recent events about people burning korans (Qurans for the politically correct) and bibles like one gigantic pissing contest to see who can burn the most “holy” books and cross the finish line–disgusting!!! I’d like to do a video with this music in the background and a large tribe of idiots dancing around with a heap of burning garbage in front of them.

What a wonderful world we live in!

I just uploaded a walking bass “ditty” …it was sure fun recording…Check it out on the Song Samples page with today’s date 4-14-10…there is one area that clipping occured (power surge) toward the end, but I didn’t want to redo it…Enjoy! It’s just a demo anyhow…
